Have you got your turtle shovel yet?

We find many a snapping turtle on busy roads in Muskoka, and we always stop to lend him a hand getting across. Drivers are significant killers of wildlife simply because the car moves so much faster than the animals. A word of advice; moving snapping turtles can be dangerous, and I've had training with these types of animals so I know how to approach and handle him safely. If you haven't been trained, use the shovel method to gently push the turtle along in the direction he was originally headed until he reaches safety.
